Donpaul McAllister – Solo Artist - To find oneself through music is something many aspire to and few accomplish. For Donpaul McAllister, music is a means of harnessing that aspiration; creatively restless, endlessly pursuing that self-directing drive, every piece of McAllister’s musicianship finds reverence in sorrow, strength in determination, and power in control.

Enterprising as singer, songwriter and guitarist, McAllister’s eclectic range places him firmly in the heart of atmospheric rock: echoes of 60s and 70s legends Roger Waters, David Bowie and Jon Anderson float in and out of every composition. Pink Floyd and Yes are at every turn, with McAllister matching each blow by blow. McAllister wears his influences on his sleeve, yet at heart, McAllister is a storyteller, weaving threads of lost love, psychosis, and survival. In his transformations, he finds common ground in the exploration of the unknown, charting a shadowy course through his passions, fears, and triumphs.

As the former frontman for bands like Audio Origami, Chien Bizarre and SoulFade, McAllister is rooted in the Gainesville scene, his passion for music finding outlet in collaborations and recordings with other local artists. It’s easy to hear McAllister’s influence throughout all of his projects: guided by complex instrumentation, each song approaches that majestic, operatic scope that creates new corridors of sound. When every path is embittered with defeat, each note resonates in a sense of victory, and McAllister rises above those darkening waves.

Now, as founder/vocalist/guitarist/writer for Gainesville’s Sin Echo, McAllister finds hope in the unknown. Accompanied by local musicians Keith Petty, Steve Burnett and Anthony Jimenez, McAllister forges a dark new sound – rock on the edge. Eclipsing pretense, eschewing fear, and finding reason and order in his own symphony, Donpaul McAllister steps forward, forging new ground.
